State aid figures released

As promised by the governor in his budget address Tuesday, state aid has remained flat for every municipality in New Jersey.

Figures released by the Department of Community Affairs show a total of $1,302,494,706 was dolled out this year, the exact number to the dollar that was awarded last year.

Newark received the highest total at $91,290,117, half again the next highest recipient, Jersey City, which pulled in $63,860,963.

Aid to municipalities dropped by about $275 million in Christie’s first year in office, down from $1.58 billion. In 2006, the number stood at $1.61 billion
