Gov. Christie vetoed three bills Tuesday.
The bills included efforts to establish a higher education-business partnership, expand mixed-use projects under the urban transit hub tax credit, and create set-asides for veteran-owned businesses.
In his veto of S2398/A3594, Christie pointed out that his task force on higher education recommended eliminating the Commission on Higher Education, so it made little sense to approve a bill that would further burden an agency that the task force found wanting.
The other two vetoes – of A3143/S2183, for mixed-use projects, and A3308/S2314, for businesses owned by veterans – were given conditional vetoes.
