The Bergen County Republican Organization Policy Committee Monday nnight selected East Rutherford Councilman Joel Brizzi and Anthony Rottino as the party’s endorsed freeholder candidates two days before the organization’s convention.
“I want to thank the policy committee for the time and effort they put into examining the candidates. I think Anthony and I would make a good team to do battle against the Democrats this fall,” said Brizzi, now serving in his sixth term as councilman.
Rottino said he too was happy to receive the policy committee’s nod.
“There are a lot of good candidates in this race and I am honored to get the endorsement of the policy committee as one of their favored candidates,” said Rottino. “I hope the county committee people and elected officials who are voting in Wednesday night’s convention would do me a similar honor and choose me as their candidate for freeholder.”
A businessman from Franklin Lakes, Rottino co-owns a Gold’s Gym franchise in Teterboro.
Those losers also seeking the organization’s backing to go up against incumbent Bergen Freeholders David Ganz and Bernadette McPherson included Jeff Bader of Woodcliff Lake, Donna Alonzo of Oradell, Jeff Heller of Ramsey, Nick Lonzisero of Ridgefield, and Art Lavish.
