TRENTON – Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, (D-15), Ewing wasted no time Thursday responding to Gov. Chris Christie’s repeated criticism of her support for the early release program.
“Legislation doesn’t kill people,” she said. “What endangers public safety is inadequate law enforcement coverage following careless budget cuts that lead to massive police layoffs.
“The administration seems to be having trouble understanding and implementing this law, which is why I’ve requested a meeting with the attorney general, corrections and parole board.
“I also offer my assistance to the governor to close any loopholes that allow guns to proliferate on our streets and to find ways to ease the blow of his police layoffs.”
Christie at his town hall in Nutley Thursday morning criticized Coleman’s backing of early-release.
