Christie calls for support to repeal Watson Coleman’s early inmate release law

NUTLEY – Gov. Chris Christie revisted his outrage over a controversial inmate early release program, urging residents to call their legislators to repeal the law.

“As a former prosecutor, it boils my blood,” said the governor at his Nutley town hall Thursday. “Bonnie Watson Coleman decided she wants early release… She’s never been involved in law enforcement and I have.”

Christie said under the program authored by Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, (D-15), Ewing, 506 inmates will be released from prison between now and June 1.

“How many murders are we going to allow to happen?” asked the governor, who supports state Sen. Diane Allen’s (R-7) Edgewater Park,  bill to repeal the early release program.
