From police department steroid expose, Assembly weighs bill to monitor HGH prescriptions

TRENTON – The Assembly is voting on a bill today that would empower the Division of Consumer Affairs to monitor human growth hormones in the Prescription Monitoring Program.

The bill, A3698, comes on the heels of a Star-Ledger expose that detailed a corrosive underbelly of steroid use among public safety officers.

It’s sponsored by Assemblyman Herb Conaway, (D-7), of Delanco, and its corresponding upper chamber bill is sponsored by Sen. Loretta Weinberg, (D-37), of Teaneck, although it hasn’t moved out of committee yet.
