Gov on cap waivers: That’s the last of it

WAYNE – Following the report that the Department of Community Affairs issued roughly 50 levy waivers to local authorities last year, Gov. Chris Christie said Friday the state was getting out of the business of allowing the overages at this level.

“Now that’s out of the hands of the Local Finance Board and in the hands of the voters,” he said at a press conference here, unless there are extenuating circumstances of hardship on towns and cities, like Atlantic City and Camden.
