Is redistricting leading to a reshuffling?

On Monday the Senate Budget Committee postponed its hearing with state Treasurer Andrew Sidamon-Eristoff due to a reapportionment committee hearing.

Tuesday the Senate committee announced it was postponing two hearings scheduled for Wednesday: with Departments of Community Affairs and Environmental Protection.

Although no reason was given, Sen. Joe Pennacchio, (R-26), Passaic, a member of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee, took issue with the latest delay.

“It is unfortunate that tomorrow’s hearings before the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee have been canceled,” he said in a release.  “The two departments scheduled to appear before the committee are closely involved in many of New Jersey’s most significant issues including: COAH, municipal aid and land use questions.

“I would have preferred to tackle these issues and others in a timelier manner.  I hope, moving forward that further delays to the people’s business will be unnecessary.”

Tuesday’s hearings before the Assembly’s budget committee were held as scheduled.
