Middlesex Freeholders to honor Buono

Senate Majority Leader Barbara Buono (D-Metuchen) will be honored Wednesday evening at the Pines Manor as a “Citizen of the Year” by the Middlesex County Commission on the Status of Women, a division of the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Dedicated to advocating for women in Middlesex County, the Commission provides a forum to identify and address women’s issues and concerns, according to a release.

“This inaugural meeting of the newly reconstituted MCCSW should serve to underscore the importance of women supporting and recognizing one another’s accomplishments,” said Buono, who is receiving the award for her work in  government.  “It is truly humbling to receive this honor from such distinguished individuals.”

Buono is the first woman to be elected Senate Majority Leader in the state of New Jersey.
