Report: Hipp takes government tough guy role to new level

We’ve heard of budget wrangling before, but this is ridiculous.

According to a report on NJ.com, Rutherford Police yesterday responded to a “fight in progress” at Rutherford Borough Hall between Mayor John Hipp and Borough Administrator Corey Gallo.

We can’t confirm that either party was nursing hurt feelings because “The Fighter” didn’t win best picture on Sunday night or that Gov. Chris Christie was irritated that a mayor of all people was upstaging his tough guy act by engaging in an actual fight on government property, only that at 3:43 p.m. Thursday, police responded to a “heated fight” taking place in Borough Hall. Neither Hipp nor Gallo wished to sign a complaint, according to the report.

Gallo would say only that there was ‘a heated argument’ between Hipp and him.”

A source told PolitickerNJ.com that Hipp had a bloody lip.

Gallo would not comment “on the subject that led to the argument or on whether there was any kind of physical altercation as well. Hipp did not respond to requests for comment by the time of this posting,” according to NJ.com.

That was a few hours ago.

Whether or not Hall of Fame fight trainer Lou Duva in Totowa would be proud, well, he’ll just have to take a look at the tape.
