Retired judge faces possible discipline in appellate court case

The N.J. Supreme Court Friday issued an order for former Superior Court Judge Steven Perskie to show why he should not be disciplined for violating codes of conduct.

Perskie retired in February 2010 from Superior Court in Atlantic County. In 2009, a complaint from a state judicial conduct committee alleged among other things that he may have violated ethical standards by not disclosing a business relationship with Frank Siracusa, a potential witness in a case before him.

The Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct recommended censure, and the Supreme Court has now scheduled a hearing for June 3 after briefs are filed.
