Supreme Court moves up deadline for parties to respond to Special Master school-funding decision

Underscoring the importance of the Special Master findings this week that New Jersey underfunded certain at-risk schools, the state Supreme Court has moved up the deadline for participants in the case to file responses.

Under the new schedule the so-called Abbott plaintiffs as well as the Attorney General are to submit briefs by April 7. Replies to the briefs are due April 14.

In his finding earlier this week, Judge Peter Doyne ruled that state school aid cutbacks unfairly hampered districts’ ability to educate students.
