Voting Starts in TechStars Startup Madness Bracket

Twelve New York start-ups made the 64-team bracket in the TechStars-sponsored Next Big Idea 2011 Startup Madness tournament, a contest for “under the radar” start-ups with under $250,000 in funding.

The first round of the tournament, hosted by This or That, pits two related startups against each other and asks voters to choose a favorite. The winner  then advances to the next bracket. It’s like basketball, but with start-ups!

The New York startups are SpeakerGram, Cheek’d, diyFractional, Artsicle, Devotee, homingCloud, Tout, Mobile Meteor, Mashwork, Luv@FirstTweet, cubTales and Roadify.

The winner gets $25,000 in prizes, including free webhosting and a year’s supply of beef jerky.

The first round ends at the end of the day today and the rounds basically follow the same schedule as the NCAA tournament, ending the first week of April.
