Sen. Loretta Weinberg, D-37, of Teaneck said Monday during the Senate session that some CWA members initially were denied access to the Statehouse today, and an undated policy was cited as a reason to not let them in. She said it was wrong to do that.
Weinberg said while state police have an obligation to keep the building safe, the Statehouse must be open to labor unions, just like it has been on previous occasions.
Her remarks were met with applause and catcalls by some of the CWA members sitting in the balcony. Numerous union members came to the Statehouse Monday to rally for collective-bargaining rights.
