CollabraCode is still looking for a space to host the six-week program, although founder and self-described lapsed coder Sanford Dickert has four options working. CollabraCode, announced last week at the New York Tech Meetup, is a program inspired more by pair programming than by hackathons, with the goal of bolstering the developer community in New York. “Instead of a 36 hour marathon or a once-a-week course, collabraCode(); is designed to give you a regular workout over the course of six weeks – focusing on delivery of projects that can be used to hone your skills and improve your project portfolio,” the website says.
The goal is to bring together beginner, intermediate, advanced and expert developers to work on projects submitted by members of the community in order to learn new skills and strengthen existine ones. The site refers to the sessions as “mini-hackathons.”
“Members slots are spoken for, but we have a WAITLIST,” Mr. Dickert wrote to the NYTM email list today. However, spots are not guaranteed–registrants have to take a test to determine their level of programming proficiency–so some on the wait list are likely to get in. The program is still looking for participating companies and mentors.
The first program starts April 20 and focuses on Javascript and jQuery.
