Poll finds support for more public school funding

In a new poll, state voters support more spending for public schools, but oppose court-ordered funding increases.

New Jersey voters support 60 – 36 percent increased spending on all public schools and support 57 – 39 percent increased spending on schools in just the state’s poorest areas, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday.

But voters say 67 – 28 percent that spending is not the best way to improve public schools and say 53 – 42 percent that the State Supreme Court should not order the State Legislature to increase school funding, the independent Quinnipiac  University poll finds.
