TRENTON – The Rev. Shannon Wright of Plainfield hit an obstacle here at the state Division of Elections this afternoon, which she intends to rectify as she pursues the Republican nomination to run against state Sen. Nicholas Scutari (D-22) of Linden.
“I’m running for the state Senate in District 22,” said Wright, who two years ago was briefly a gubernatorial candidate before a family illness compelled her to retire from the race.
Wright tried to submit petitions that included sigs for Assembly, which the state Division of Elections rejected. She said she will get signatures for Senate and return before the end of the filing deadline this afternoon.
Wright was Franklin Mayor Brian D. Levine’s campaign manager for his failed 2009 GOP gurbernatorial run before abruptly leaving his flailing operation and kickstarting her own ill-fated gov run as a Democrat.
