Former Councilwoman Bessie Walker today formally endorsed Essex Freeholder candidate Terrance Bankston of Newark – a member of the Booker administration – over incumbent Freeholder L. Bilal Beasley of Irvington in June’s Democratic Primary.
Mayor Cory Booker backs Beasley, but Bankston in his off the line A effort burnished the former councilwoman.
“I chose Bankston over Beasley because residents have not been serviced in nine years under Beasley,” said Walker, an ally of former Mayor Sharpe James’.
“I believe that Terrance Bankston will bring resources and be the voice to speak out for our community that Beasley has never done in nine years. Beasley’s silence and inaction has hurt our district.”
