DiNapoli Would Like Marriage Vote ASAP

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli expressed his support for same-sex marriage this morning, joining a slew of elected officials and celebrities who have recorded video messages for the Human Rights Campaign.

Asked when the comptroller would like to see a vote on the issue, a spokesperson, Vanessa Lockel, said in an email: “As soon as possible and definitely before the end of the session.”

Whether that will happen remains to be seen, as Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos has backed off a previous pledge to bring the measure before the Senate, and Governor Andrew Cuomo has resisted the idea of holding a vote if the support isn’t there to pass it.
