Humilation turns into rejuvenation, say Bergen Dems, who raise $130K at Stellato event

Humilated over the course of the last two election cycles, a self-proclaimed rejuvenated Democratic Party in Bergen County, now under the leadership of new Chairman Lou Stellato (pictured), held its first annual Hall of Fame Gala attracting over 350 supporters last night.

The event honored party stalwarts Mayor Gerald Calabrese, Palisades Park Municipal Chairman Michael Pollotta, former State Senator Jerry O’Connor, party Vice-Chair Kay Ness and former Clerk Carl Hartmann.

Also honored were former Senators Byron Baer and Matthew Feldman and Barbara Werber, the only woman to have ever served as Chair of Bergen County Democrats.

Bergen Dems Spokesman Adam Silverstein said the event raked in over $130,000 for Stellato’s county campaign warchest.

One Democratic insider said, “Coming off the 2010 election and the lost of Democratic control in Bergen County the party was deflated and in search of a new direction. Tonight tells me in no uncertain terms that Bergen County Democrats are alive and well and that is a testament to Chairman Lou Stellato.” Humilation turns into rejuvenation, say Bergen Dems, who raise $130K at Stellato event
