It’s Free to Look: Putting the ‘Id’ in ‘Upper West Side’

In one of our recurring nightmares, the one where Woody Allen plays the clarinet theme music of pending doom while Dean Martin—from his post-Rat Pack days, when Frank wasn’t speaking to him anymore—fixes us the drink that will send us into eternity, we’re on the Upper West Side, on the lam from something. But what? Greater responsibility? Riper adulthood? Dinner parties with wines from distinct regions of Europe rather than just countries or California?

We never find out. The nightmare always ends too soon.

Should the reason for our running be what we think it is, this apartment at 23 West 73rd Street might, in fact, be involved. It puts the “id” in “Upper West Side.”

Let the $2.295 million Carol E. Levy listing explain: “This breathtaking one-of-a-kind three bedroom is the family find you have been searching for, just steps off Central Park! You will love the huge layout with a beautiful 24 foot living room, fantastic family room/dining room, stunning open kitchen and spacious bedrooms! … All this in the luxurious Park Royal, a premier landmark building with white glove service including 24 hour doorman, concierge, magnificent lobby, New York Sport’s Club, storage lockers, bike room, children’s playroom …”

Yup. That’s it alright.
