The Senate Judiciary Committee this afternoon passed Gov. Chris Christie’s nomination of Bergen County Republican Chairman Bob Yudin to the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority.
State Sen. Loretta Weinberg (D-37) grilled Yudin, but eventually supported him.
“Issues like Blue Laws and what happens to development there are of the utmost importance,” she said. “I’m counting on you first and foremost to represent the interests of the state and of Bergen County.”
“I will do a good job. I will be fair and honorable,” Yudin said.
“I will hope you will be supportive of VLTs in the Meadowlands,” said state Sen. Paul Sarlo, (D-36). “Although I wasn’t happy with your answers on Blue Laws, I hope you will support Blue Laws.”
After a political delay that lasted over a year, Yudin was not the only county GOP chairman approved for a commission this afternoon. The Judiciary committee also approved Warren County Republican Chairman Doug Steinhardt for the New Jersey Hall of Fame Advisory Commission.
