Real estate mogul turned Reality TV star Donald Trump has sent a statement to ABC News congratulating President Barack Obama for the killing of terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden.
“I want to personally congratulate President Obama and the men and women of the Armed Forces for a job well done,” he said.
Obama’s announcement last night came during the middle of Trump’s TV show “The Celebrity Apprentice,” leading to some snickering on social networks (prior to the news leaking out on what actually the president would be speaking about) that Obama, was trying to one-up Trump again after some merciless teasing at the White House Correspondents Dinner over the weekend.
Trump went on to echo President Obama’s call last night for a moment of national unity.
“I am so proud to see Americans standing shoulder to shoulder, waving the American flag in celebration of this great victory,” he said, adding. “We should spend the next several days not debating party politics, but in remembrance of those who lost their lives on 9/11 and those currently fighting for our freedom. God Bless America!”
