Advertising bill, originally held, clears committee

Originally held this morning, a bill that would allow the Transportation Department to sell advertising on emergency-services and related vehicles, S2787/A3944, was passed this afternoon in the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee 12-1.

The bill would clarify that the Transportation Commissioner has the powers to pursue revenue-generating sponsors for such vehicles or equipment.

Sen. James Beach said they clarified concerns that there wouldn’t be any such ads on state police vehicles, and the bill would only concern approximately 50 state-owned vehicles.
