Another Republican Comes Out for Same-Sex Marriage; Passage Likely

Saratoga Republican Roy McDonald is telling The Times-Union that he will vote in favor of same-sex marriage when the bill comes to the floor.

McDonald becomes the 31st senator to signal support for the bill, insuring passage if no supporters defect and Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy breaks a 31-31 tie vote leaving backers one vote short of passage.

“I’m trying to do the right thing,” McDonald told the T-U’s Jimmy Vielkind.
