In case you’re wondering, here’s how Rev. Duane Motley, a critic of same-sex marriage who was loitering outside the Republican meeting this morning, explains his objections:
“It’s going to undermine the stability of our society. It’s going to affect business in a negative way. We’re going to be endorsing children without a parent, only one parent.”
When asked to elaborate on that last point, Motley, who was surrounded by reporters, calmly said, “in homosexual couples, you can only have one biological parent. So, you’re going to have a child living with one biological parent and wondering ‘Where’s my other parent? Why aren’t they here? What are they like?'”
It’s a different scenario than homosexual couples who adopt children, he said.
Same-sex marriage “is a designed endorsement by the state to have a family with only one biological parent.”
He is, of course, ignoring the obvious benefits of same-sex couples who are able to raise children in stable, loving homes.
