CB Richard Ellis New York Tri-State Region President Mitchell Rudin is leaving the firm to be U.S. chief executive of Brookfield Office Properties, by far downtown’s largest landlord, whose properties include the World Financial Center.
“It is never an easy decision to leave a place as special as CBRE (CBRE), but I was presented with a rare and exciting opportunity by Ric Clark and Brookfield Office Properties and I felt the time was right to take on new responsibilities and challenges in development,” said Mr. Rudin in a statement.
CBRE also announced that Matt Van Buren, executive managing director, will be the interim New York Tri-State Region leader. Cherrie Nanninga, chief operating officer, Tri-State Region, will also assume increased interim management responsibilities.
With the help of Mr. Rudin’s leadership, CB Richard Ellis grew from a relatively small player, to the biggest brokerage in town—dominating the top 20 leases in the city last year.
