They’re not leaving town just yet.
“If the [rent] laws are not in place, I’m going to keep the legislature in place,” said Governor Cuomo. “I’ve told them that.”

Speaking to reporters on the second floor, Cuomo said a temporary extension of rent laws will pass.
“I spoke with the Democrats in the Senate and they said they’re prepared to vote for the extension of rent laws,” he said. “I spoke with the Democrats in the Senate and they said they’re prepared to vote for the extension.”
Cuomo said the extension will be retroactive. The rent laws lapsed on Wednesday when Senate Democrats refused to pass an extension of the laws, demanding the laws be renewed and expanded.
