Gov. Chris Christie likes to invoke the mantra “only in New Jersey” to describe the strange doings of the state’s political class.

Democrats not only know the $300 million in pension and health benefits savings baked into the governor’s budget are junk, but they were the ones who first pointed it out. They also were the prime sponsors of the bill that will account for the savings and chaired the committee where the Treasurer’s office testified that first year savings from the reforms would reach just $10 million.
Now, they want to use the same figure in their version of the budget.
The party’s response to questions about the numbers? Nah, nah, nah, nah , nah , nah.
