Gigawatt’s Illuminated Mixtapes are carefully arranged, according to tempo, to meet the rhythms of your day.
These online playlists (they’re labeled “Adagio,” “Moderato,” “Vivace,” and “Presto”) feature a totally eclectic array of recording artists: We heard excellent tracks by Aesop Rock and Talib Kweli, as well as Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, and Otis Redding, and were especially happy to discover a couple of musicians we’d never heard of before. The series kicked off in 2007—there are 16 playlists in all—and it’s currently on hiatus. We’re grateful for the chance to play catch-up, but do hope that it’s not too long before more of these mixtapes come our way.
