Treasurer Andrew Sidamon-Eristoff gave a glimpse of the fate of some 124 NJN employees today.

He said that due to retirement eligibility and because some will be transferred to other positions, the state anticipates that only half of them will be subject to layoffs as of July 1, when WNET takes over NJN.

He said they expect to transfer up to six workers to Treasury where they will maintain broadcast assets and ensure FCC compliance.

He told the Assembly Budget Committee that the average age of the NJN workers is 51, slightly older than the average age of 46 for all state workers, and that 56 of them are eligible to retire because they are 60 or older and have 25 years of service.
