The name of Observer interview subject/obstetrician/novelist Avner Hershlag’s grandson has been revealed. Aleph Millipied was born to an actress named Natalie Portman. Dr. Hershlag’s novel, the “reproductive thriller” Misconception, which he had shopped to publishing houses, contains such choice lines as:
“‘Ambiguous genitalia,’ [Krim] said. He nodded in agreement. They both knew what that meant. There was no way to tell Bonnie Marshall whether she’d just given birth to a boy or a girl.”
No mystery here: Aleph is a boy’s name (we assume?). Well, Aleph Millipied is a boy.
