Garrett still exploring alternative to Boehner plan

A member of the so-called Cut, Cap and Balance Coalition and not in line behind Speaker John Boehner of his own party on a strategy for the debt, U.S. Rep. Scott Garrett (R-5) wants Democrats to consider a balanced budget amendment in exchange for a vote to raise the country’s debt ceiling.

“What Congressman Garrett has focused on is the cut, cap and balance plan and he is still undecided at the moment on Speaker Boehner’s plan,” Garrett communications director Ben Veghte told PolitickerNJ.com.

Garrett’s website is currently down along with other GOP congressional sites.

“Our website is housed on one server, which is down, every member’s office is down now because of an increase in traffic, which they’re trying to resolve,” Veghte added.
