In the 7th Congressional District, U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance (R-Lebanon) raised $134,000 this quarter and has $273,000 cash on hand, according to the Lance Campaign.
Running for a third term this year, Lance faces redistricting as the second most junior member of the delegation after U.S. Rep. Jon Runyan (R-3).
Democratic Party sources tell PolitickerNJ.com the party has generated at least one map that posits a scenario in which Lance would be the casualty of population reduction in the state. Experts say New Jersey is certain to lose a congressman following this year’s redistricting process.
Two Democrats continue to make the rounds as they seek the Democratic nomination for the 7th Congressional seat in 2012.
Ed Potosnak of North Plainfield, conquered by Lance in 2010, appeared last month at the Middlesex County Democratic Committee special convention and jawed with party big shots. Former Edison Mayor Jun Choi is also avidly seeking support to challenge in the currently configured 7th.
Choi said tomorrow his Federal Election Commission (FEC) report will show that he has $180,159 cash on hand.
