Rocco Mazza, former chief for state Sen. Loretta Weinberg (D-37) and Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D-37), started last month as the communications coordinator for the Bergen County Human Services Department, which includes the following Divisions: Senior Services, Disability Services, Office for Children, Family Guidance, Alternatives to Domestic Violence, Veterans Services and Community Transportation for seniors and the disabled.
Mazza once served as the director of policy and communications for the Bergen County Freeholder Board and worked for Governor Tom Kean’s Republican administration when he was an assistant to the state’s first Commissioner of Commerce, Borden Putnam, in 1985.
“It is an honor and a privilege for me to help support the work of those who serve the most vulnerable people in Bergen County,” Mazza told PolitickerNJ.com. “I am also humbled by the opportunity to work for one of the best and brightest public servants to ever come out of Bergen County, Kathe Donovan. She is someone whose public career I’ve supported for at least 28 years (we’re both Lyndhurst natives). I consider myself an Independent Democrat now with an emphasis on ‘Independent.’ I march to the beat of an independent drummer because hardcore partisanship is no longer as important to me as fundamentally sound and effective public policy.”
