TRENTON – Assembly Speaker Sheila Y. Oliver (D-Essex/Passaic) reacted with revulsion today at one particular cut Gov. Chris Christie made to the budget Thursday before he signed it.
“Many of the governor’s cuts are repulsive,” she said in a release, “but one immediately stands out as especially mean-spirited. That’s the cut to the Wynona M. Lipman Child Advocacy Center.”
The newark Center, named after the state’s first African-American female senator, provides numerous critical services, according to Oliver, among them working with abused children.
“Many of the governor’s cuts are heartless, but this is inexplicable. This is sickening,” Oliver said.
