Rally to Defend Rappers from NYPD

Rappers Pete Rock and General Steele (half of the Smiff-n-Wesson duo) will speak Thursday night in Brooklyn about the album release party they had earlier late last month which ended with the NYPD charging numerous people with rioting, obstruction of justice and in at least one case, assaulting a police officer.

At the Thursday town hall meeting, organizers say attendees will learn things like “how to legally observe the police.”

It’s taking place at 415 Atlantic Avenue, from 6 – 8 pm on Thursday. Also expected to attend is Kevin Powell, who challenged Rep. Towns in 2010 and became famous as a member of the inaugural series of The Real World on MTV.
