Hakeem Jeffries appeared on WNBC over the weekend and was asked about his plans to run for Ed Towns’ congressional seat.
“We have to find a better way to leverage the fact that you have President Obama in office, who comes from an urban environment, who may be sensitive to the issues we confront right here,” he said.
He was also asked about this New York Observer profile, which talked about how some in political circles compare him to another former urban state legislator: Barack Obama.
