Although The National Enquirer reported this winter that the engagement was off between Big Bang actor Jim Parsons and his fiancé Todd Allan Spiewak, it looks as though all is well with the couple, whether or not they’re still engaged. Mr. Parsons, who won an Emmy last year, and Mr. Spiewak just purchased an apartment together at 36 Gramercy Park East.

Nest Seekers broker Ryan Serhant explained the apartment’s appeal. “It’s a phenomenal two-bedroom in the condo on Gramercy Park,” he said. “It literally flew off the shelves. It was hardly even on the market.”

The views from the high floor were also a major selling point. According a property listing by Carol Friedman, who listed the property with Mr. Serhant, the apartment’s “luxurious freedom is enhanced by the breathtaking views of Gramercy Park below.” In addition to their new residence in the gothic  building, Messrs. Parsons and Spiewak will have highly coveted access to one of New York’s last private gardens, Gramercy Park.

The building made waves two years ago when its rental units were converted into condos. Back in 2009, the average asking price for the newly converted condos was $2,248 per square foot. Perhaps Mr. Parsons has been channeling the genius of his character Sheldon, however, because he paid just $1.822 million for the 911-square-foot place, significantly below the original asking price.
