Lance says immediate need is food; Bound Brook would have been worse without wall

MANVILLE – A steel curtain installed by the Army Corps of Engineers in downdown Bound Brook didn’t prevent flooding, but gave the engineers a chance to improve the multi-million dollar infrastructure, Mayor Carey Pilato told PolitickerNJ.com moments before the start of a Gov. Chris Christie press conference.

Having just toured Bound Brook and Manville, U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance (R-7) echoed that sentiment.

“The devestation would have been far worse without the wall, and I give full credit to the Army Corps of Engineers,” Lance said.

Lance was with Christie when the latter toured a VFW hall packed with displaced Manville residents.

“The immediate need now is food for those residents in the shelters,” said the congressman.
