Sean Avery Spends Night in Penalty Box for Checking Police Officer

Too many parties, not enough pucks.

Though he’s generally kept his well-documented aggression off the ice, Ranger forward couldn’t help sticking it to the cops who were trying to break up a party at his L.A. abode last night. He was arrested, locked up, and released in the morning on a $20,000 bail, TMZ first reported.

But, hey, Sean Avery does really like parties! He’s a fixture on Fashion Week runways and has hit plenty of Hamptons happenings this season. And he’s been civil. Shorts? Check. Chunky glasses? Check. Checking? Not so much.

Until now. But he was nice about it, apparently!

“According to law enforcement, Avery was extremely cooperative after,” the TMZ item said.

The city’s twelve hockey fans have been sweating over whether or not Mr. Avery will be suspended, but there are more pressing questions at hand. Like, will this take the fashion-conscious puck-slinging forward off the party circuit? He’s on the benefit committee for the Endangered Species Coalition’s first annual Hamptons Benefit, later this month in Southampton, but there’s no word as to whether the arrest will keep him from heading out east.
