The Sierra Club has endorsed state Sen. Jim Whelan (D-2) for re-election, citing his record on clean energy, open space preservation, and protection of New Jersey’s air and
“Senator Whelan has been a leader for clean energy in New Jersey especially along our coast, sponsoring legislation to allow for windmills on our piers, helping make offshore wind a reality, and turning landfills into solar farms. Senator Whelan has also been a strong advocate for preserving open space and helping to protect our coastal waterways from pollution from fertilizer and stormwater runoff,” said Jeff Tittel, Director, NJ Sierra Club.
Whelan is in arguably the most watched legislative race of the coming general election season, as he faces Republican challenger Assemblyman Vince Polistina (R-2).
