The Barnes Foundation has set an opening date for its new home in Philadelphia for May 2012, according to an announcement on their website. After much debate from the public, a bulk of the museum’s beloved collection was moved from Merion, PA to a fancy new building in the city. The public opening will be May 19th, followed by many days of events. It will all culminate in the museum staying open for 60 hours straight over Memorial Day weekend, May 26-28, offering free access to visitors. An “elegant black-tie event” will kick things off on May 18.
