If you’re looking for funny stuff in foreign languages, Splitsider’s new list of the best foreign-language humor publications is a natural place to start.
Comedy writer Laura Turner Garrison assembled the list, which links readers to magazines in China, Egypt, Germany, India, Mexico, Russia, Sweden, Turkey, and a few other countries. (You’ll be please to know that the Russian magazine Krokodil is “printed on Soviet-quality paper.”) The results can be disorienting, but much of the humor comes across; if anything, the cognitive disconnect makes some of the things you’ll find here that much funnier. And, of course, running the results through Google Translate adds another layer of absurdity.
