Yesterday, the campaign of Republican Bob Turner released a poll that showed him in a dead heat with David Weprin, his Democratic opponent in the Brooklyn/Queens congressional district held by Anthony Weiner.
Today, the Democrats have answered, with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee releasing a poll by the well-regarded Global Strategy Group that gives Mr. Weprin an 8-point lead, with 14 percent undecided (the G.O.P. poll, by the McLaughlin Group, found 16 percent undecided.)
“This poll confirms what we always knew, voters are rejecting Bob Turner’s radical agenda of cutting Medicare and Social Security and leaving 9/11 volunteers out in the cold, while protecting tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires,” said Josh Schwerin of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “New Yorkers prefer David Weprin’s plan to grow the economy and protect Medicare and Social Security to Bob Turner’s extremism.
He also noted that their poll, unlike the G.O.P. poll, was done at the same time with a bigger sample and over two days.
