If Assembly Rory Lancman does in fact find himself in a race next year with newly-elected Congressman Bob Turner, he is making sure that the Ed Koch effect is pretty well neutralized.
The United Nations’ potential blessing of a Palestinian state in an end run around direct negotiations with Israel will add a dangerous new dimension to the Palestinians’ decades-long campaign of conventional and unconventional war against the Jewish state – the commencement of a full-blown “lawfare” campaign against Israel and its allies.
Mr. Turner was elected to New York’s 9th Congressional district after former mayor Ed Koch implored voters of the district to turn it into a referendum on the Obama administration’s policy towards Israel. The district is one of the most Jewish in the nation.
Mr. Lancman laid the groundwork to be picked by the Queens County Democratic Party to run for the seat, but party head Joe Crowley ultimately chose Assemblyman David Weprin, who went down to defeat. Mr. Lancman however began criticizing Mr. Turner almost as soon as he was sworn-in.
