The bill, which passed unanimous, affects normal business hours from May 15 to Oct. 15.

Sen. Jim Whelan said he would confer with sponsor Sen. Jeff Van Drew to discuss including a provision regarding casino beach bars being granted some exemptions as well.

The bill states that although there are 14 exceptions to the state’s noise control law, none covers amusement park rides.

The issue has taken on urgency as increased residential development has brought homes ever closer to pre-existing amusement parks.
