Queens Assemblyman Rory Lancman appeared on “The Bibi Report”–an online radio show that purports to reveal “The Truth on Israel and the Netanyahu government” and made clear that if he runs for Congress, he wouldn’t be tripped up on questions involving the Obama administration and Israel.
Although Lancman had high praise for the president’s address to the United Nations, he said that President Obama seems to have forgotten the sympathy he exhibited towards Israel back when he was Candidate Obama.
And he had some tough words for the Palestinians.
“It ought to be made clear to the Palestinians that there are limits to the generosity of the American taxpayer,” he said. We are willing to support the Palestinian Authority and Palestinian institutions that are building towards a state that could live side by side in peace and security with Israel. We are not here to spend American taxpayer money to waste time playing games like what we see happening at the United Nations over the last week or so.”
During the campaign for the 9th Congressional District in New York, Republican Bob Turner often made a similar point. Lancman was passed over by the Queens Democratic Party for that seat, but has been quietly inching closer towards a run if the seat is not redistricted out of existence.
“Having a Republican congressman is new to me. I have never known it in my life,” Lancman said.
And he sounded like someone gearing up for a race.
It is extremely important to me that my congress member represent my values on Israel and on many many other issues and you can be certain that I will do everything I can to make sure that my congressman does so,” he said, adding, “If I have felt that I had to be the person to make that race I wouldn’t be shy or reluctant to do it.”
