Swiss efficiency as you’ve never seen (or even imagined) it before

If you’ve been to Basel, Zurich, or Geneva, you know that Swiss tidiness puts Germany’s celebrated sense of order to shame. Still, we’re relieved to tell you that these very funny photographs, by Swiss artist-comedian Ursus Wehrli, are a bit of a put-on.

Each set of before and after photos (taken from a forthcoming book called The Art of Clean Up) goes to great lengths to straighten out one scene (the night sky, a bowl of alphabet soup) that very few of us would think of as “messy.” You can see the process in action on the artist’s YouTube trailer, or try it out for yourself on his OCD-friendly website. And if you’re as charmed as we were, you’ll find that Wehrli’s appearance at the 2006 TED conference is well worth watching. We’ve linked you to all of them below.
