TRENTON – The agency charged with marketing and promoting Atlantic City has tapped a new CEO.
The Atlantic City Alliance, a non-profit association overseen by casinos, named Elizabeth Cartmell as its chief executive officer.
She will head the agency, which is funded by the casinos with approximately $30 million a year.
“Liza Cartmell’s appointment is the latest demonstration of our Administration’s commitment to the revitalization of Atlantic City and its gaming and tourism industry,” Gov. Chris Christie said in a release.
“Liza is a world-class executive with demonstrated experience and a proven vision for the promotion and marketing of Atlantic City and all it has to offer. She is part of a well-coordinated public-private partnership, combining expertise, vision and resources of the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority and Atlantic City Alliance.”
Cartmell said that the city needs to attract more visitors, which will then provide money needed for progress.
Cartmell is a former executive at Aramark, the food service company.
The Alliance was created earlier this year as part of the administration’s attempt to remake and rescue the struggling city.
